After a extensive promotional campaign—including the release of his Nate NL-assisted single “Bad Habits” earlier in the month—Canadian artist Whiteboy Scummy has premiered his EP debut.
Scummy really finds his sound on the 5-track Your Favourite EP, bringing that in-your-face and unapologetic style he’s come to be known for. The Tracer Beats-produced project peers into Scummy’s past living in an impoverished small town and how it impacted his moral outlook.
Since day one, authenticity has been on the top Scummy’s priority list, alongside lyrical prowess and the danceability of his music. Your Favourite embodies that perfectly. He fills every song with content that forces the listeners curiosity, flipping modern hip-hop tropes into an entirely unique story. He talks about business acumen instead of gang violence, rural poverty instead of urban ghettos, being fly instead of intimidating. In layman’s terms, he raps about his truth as opposed to what’s trending, without ever taking himself too seriously to be able to dance to.
You can find Your Favourite EP on various digital streaming platforms including Apple Music and Spotify. The project was executively produced by YouKnowKeegan, and curated by Karma Management & Promotions. On the visual side, Jay Mailk is credited with the supporting video and animated graphic work.
