Haviah Mighty & Grandtheft release new single “Avocado” ahead of Stock Exchange mixtape

Representing Toronto with her 2019 Polaris Music Prize-winning album, 13th Floor, Haviah Mighty continues to tease her upcoming project Stock Exchange with “Avocado,” her sixth single release of the year.

“Avocado” was released on July 9th 2021 and features production from Toronto’s own DJ Grandtheft, as well as artwork designed by blackpowerbarbie. The track follows Haviah Mighty’s triumphant UK influenced Yizzy-assisted “Protest” from June which has managed to garner over 200,000 views on YouTube to date.

Throughout the song, Haviah lyrically flexes her confidence:

“Listen, I’m at the height of all this confidence budding
Either you have it or not, but ayy, you gotta quit running
Always held my shoulders high but I was possibly bluffing
But I’m proud of who this shawty becoming
Now I can’t be defeated”

As when asked about the track, she explained how those lyrics came to be: “Finding that true inner confidence has come with a lot of introspection over the past year. Unlike before when I appeared confident on the outside but had many insecurities, I feel my confidence is now much more rooted to my internal core. While we’re always a work in progress as humans, I feel much more stable now that I’m more comfortable with myself and what I have to offer. This is a reminder that if you’re not confident in your own strides, you’ll end up following somebody who is!”

Haviah Mighty’s anticipated mixtape Stock Exchange is set for a fall release. You can check out “Avocado” on Spotify and other DSPs via Mighty Gang Inc.
