Montréal rapper Kay Bandz is a perfect example of having grown up in poverty, while never allowing any obstacles to hold him back from pursuing his dreams. He’s always known who he could be and envisioned a specific path for his career. Bandz may seem like a new arrival for some, but the young talent has been releasing music online since 2013.
While drill music began to step into the limelight, the power of the internet manifested with Bandz’ music reaching famed Chicago rapper Chief Keef’s label, Glory Boyz Entertainment. This led to collaborations with Capo, Tadoe and Chicago heavyweight G Herbo. Over the past couple of years, Kay Bandz has collaborated with platinum certified acts and budding stars including the likes of Gunna, Lil Baby, Pressa, Zoey Dollaz and many others. He also joined Sean Kingston on his last Canadian tour.
On June 4th, the up-and-comer released his latest single “Benz Coupe,” a mix of an uptempo beat and heavy 808s. The summertime single was produced by PabloMCR, who has previously worked with Lil Baby, and Yo Gotti, just to name a few. The new record was accompanied by a colorful music video directed by Sam Fiasco and shot by 2TAB, a very well known videographer in Toronto. 2TAB is behind a lot of videos by the late Houdini, as well as responsible for a chunk of Burna Bandz releases. The video was edited by Worldwide Films, who made a name for himself after working with Blueface.
“Benz Coupe” is HipHopCanada’s Song of the Day. You can find the single on Spotify and various other digital streaming platforms via BLCKchain Entertainment. Check out the music video below.
