Wu-Tang Clan, Alicia Keys, and Other Stars Celebrate Knicks Victory

New York City solidified its reputation as a premier hub for musical history this past Thursday as the Knicks’ championship parade transformed into a massive celebration of local culture. The ticker-tape event, which drew crowds across the five boroughs, served as a vibrant backdrop for some of the city’s most iconic voices to honor the team’s hard-fought NBA Finals victory.

On the steps of City Hall, Alicia Keys delivered a stirring performance of her and Jay-Z’s anthem, “Empire State of Mind.” Accompanied by her son, Egypt, on the piano, Keys shared the stage with Mayor Zohran Mamdani and point guard Jalen Brunson. The singer even incorporated a nod to Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind,” further cementing the celebratory atmosphere. “Are we the champions or what?” she asked the cheering crowd.

The festivities extended well beyond the steps of City Hall. A dedicated float served as a mobile concert stage, featuring a star-studded lineup including Fat Joe, Mary J. Blige, Mobb Deep’s Havoc, Teyana Taylor, Fabolos, Remy Ma, Yung Miami, and various Wu-Tang Clan affiliates. The 90-minute set highlighted the deep-rooted connection between basketball and hip-hop culture.

Reflecting on the synergy between the two worlds, Method Man noted in an interview with Variety, “Basketball has been synonymous with hip-hop for a long time. Kurtis Blow, anybody?” The parade served as a long-awaited moment of triumph for the city and its dedicated fanbase.
