Robert Lee Folsom’s 1976 album Music And Dreams is set to receive a comprehensive 50th-anniversary reissue, marking a significant milestone for the cult-classic record. Anthology Recordings has officially announced that Music and Dreams: 50th Anniversary Edition will arrive on October 16, featuring a fully remastered version of the original LP alongside rare reel-to-reel demos and contemporary interpretations from artists including Beach House and Hannah Cohen.
To commemorate the announcement, a new cover of the track “April Suzanne” by Beach House was released on September 19, arriving alongside the remastered original recording. The “Space Song” hitmakers bring their signature ethereal, hymnal quality to the track. “We love so many Robert Lester Folsom songs and are very pleased to be included on the 50th anniversary edition of Music and Dreams,” the band stated. “We had a lot of fun trying to bring such a classic as ‘April Suzanne’ into our world.”
Originally self-released in the 1970s, Music and Dreams spent decades circulating through word-of-mouth before finding a wider audience via a 2010 reissue by Mexican Summer. The upcoming anniversary edition will be available as a double LP, CD, and digital release. The project features demo material sourced by Folsom’s longtime collaborator Don Fleming, with mastering handled by Grammy-nominated engineer Jessica Thompson.
In support of the release, Robert Lee Folsom will embark on a 23-date US tour beginning October 5 in Atlanta, Georgia, and concluding in Richmond, Virginia, on October 18. Following his domestic run, the musician is scheduled to perform in London on November 7 as part of the Pitchfork Music Festival, with support from Star Moles and Sean Solomon.
