LA rapper Born Allah enlists Rakaa Iriscience for “Jabril (Let the Horns Blow)”

Born Allah (a/k/a Daddy Grace) connects with fellow L.A. rap veteran Rakaa Iriscience on “Jabril (Let the Horns Blow),” a brassy banger that serves as the first leak off Born’s forthcoming EP, Analog Baby.

The two West Coast hip-hop stalwarts have known each other since the mid-’90s, but it was actually the EP’s producer, German beatsmith Zpu-Zilla, who pushed Born to link up with some like-minded emcees. And, funny enough, he reached out to Rakaa after the Dilated Peoples emcees interacted with one of his Instagram posts. They chatted via DM and the results certainly speak for themselves.

Zilla’s instrumental is bursting with horns and driving percussion, and it perfectly suits the attention-grabbing rhymes from Born and Rakaa. The two sound organic flowing alongside one another with grown-man raps, plenty of bravado, and clever wordplay. Just make sure you’re listening to it at a loud volume, because “Jabril” absolutely demands it.

Analog Baby—which also features DJ Nu-Mark and DJ Mark Luv—is set to drop on Friday, Jan. 7, 2021 and is available now for pre-order via iTunes, Bandcamp and Amazon Music through Born’s own imprint, The Church of Hip Hop & Financial Prosperity.
