The past year has been an absolute roller-coaster for TwoTiime as he navigates through the trenches of the music industry. After a brief hiatus and a growing sense of anticipation from his fans, the Ottawa recording artist is back with a new heartfelt hood anthem to cap off the summer season.
With “Did A Lot,” produced by Trillo Beatz, TwoTiime wears his heart on his sleeve while reminiscing about growing up in the hood. He recalls some of the hardships he experienced coming up on Ritchie Street, and the pain that came from losing friends along the way—some to a cage, others to a grave.
“This record allowed me to reach back and reconnect with where I came from and where I’m going,” TwoTiime explained.
“‘Did A Lot’ is a salute to my hood and a reflection of the fact that I am simply just a product of my environment and my voice is just an instrument of the streets. There are things I can speak on, but I’d rather tell the story through my music.”
Coming ahead of the touching new single is a supporting visual shot by popular director MyNameFrench. In the clip, TwoTiime is seen back in his ends with some of his crew and visiting the gravestone of his fallen friend FTG Metro—a fellow rapper who was tragically killed in January 2020 at just 18 years.
With “Did A Lot,” TwoTiime hopes to build on his growing buzz and capitalize on the momentum he’s been experiencing. For one, he’s been garnering an increasing amount of media attention and was recently featured on the cover of the Ottawa Citizen. In May, he won his first award after his breakout hit “Hood Cry” was named Single of the Year by the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition. While his popularity continues to flourish locally, TwoTiime has also began to really focus on expanding his reach across the continent. He’s recently made trips out to Los Angeles and Miami, and was spotted with Chicago’s Polo G, and various other industry stars. It’s great company for the young talent to keep as he prepares to bring his career to another level.
“Did A Lot” is HipHopCanada’s Song of the Day. You can find the single on Apple Music, Spotify, and various other digital streaming platforms via Twiice Records / Worldstar Distribution.
