In just a few days, Benny The Butcher has already racked up over 370K views with his instant-classic “Times Is Rough.”
Featuring Heem, Rick Hyde and the legendary DJ Premier, the new video comes in support of the forthcoming Black Soprano Family album, Long Live DJ Shay expected September 9, 2022. DJ Shay, born Demetrius Chawton Robinson, was a Buffalo-based producer for Benny’s Griselda Records, and founder of the Buff City Records label. He passed away in Aug. 2020 from COVID-19 at age 48.
“This hurt right here this was my mentor coach father figure all tht I feel like somebody stole something from me @djshaybsf,” Benny shared on Instagram at the time of his death.
On Monday, August 15, Benny will headline the Black Soprano Family TAKEOVER inside Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory (361 Metropolitan Avenue) with support from both Heem and Rick Hyde. Tickets can be purchased on TicketWeb.
