The city known to its locals as YYC or Cowtown is prominently known for its country music, folk music, and superstar indie pop group, Tegan & Sarah. However, over the past few years the hip-hop scene in Calgary has grown due in part to Beni Johnson, his organization 10 at 10 as well as the rise of artists such as Curtis Waters, Harm Franklin, and Rubin Young.
20-Year-Old new Calgary artist Victory, dubbed by Complex as the industry’s newest arrival and a hidden gem by 6ixBuzz, has steadily been gaining momentum and growing her online buzz with her releases “Up,” “Trendsetter” and “Gone.” Her official industry debut “Up” aired on Vibe 105.5 FM, as well as Philly’s Hype City show on 98.5 FM Uptown radio station, and was also placed on Stingray’s Hip-Hop/R&B television channel.
Fresh off her distribution deal with Believe Music and performance at this year’s Honey Jam Showcase, Victory returns with her newest single “Real” featuring Toronto’s own B.Rob. The single begins with a smooth old school R&B vibe followed with Victory’s vocals which immediately grab your attention, while B.Rob’s verse comes in and adds its own spice to the record.
