Calgary-based vocalist and songwriter Taker recently made his official debut with a new single and accompanying video.
The Sixzin-produced single “Ride or Die” was visualized by director Devan Karl with support from assistant director, Claudia Karl. The video was partly shot inside Calgary’s The Pioneer YYC, and features actors Ashley Peters, Jamie Harris, and Rob Boyd. Hair and make up are credited to Haven Beauty YYC.
Being a huge fan of action movies, Taker sought to immediately pique the viewer’s interest with ‘Ride or Die’ by staging a bank heist and car chase in the opening scene.
“Ride or Die” is derived from a belief that no matter what circumstance you’re in, great things happen when you accept the person you’re meant to be. During the COVID-19 lockdown, the Toronto-born Ethiopian-Canadian built a studio in his Calgary condo and has been hard at work ever since. Taker has only just gotten started, but has already shown signs of becoming Canada’s next rising star.
“Ride or Die” is available on various digital streaming platforms including Apple Music and Spotify.
