Matt Ox Arrested for Possession of Lean and Oxycodone

Matt Ox was arrested in California for drug charges earlier this month.

The Philadelphia native, born Matthew Grau, was booked in Burbank, Calif. following a traffic stop on April 5, XXL learned via police records on Wednesday (April 16). Matt and the other two occupants were initially stopped for a vehicle code violation. However, police say they found cups of lean in the car as well as Oxycodone and Alprazolam on Matt, according to TMZ.

The three men were charged with narcotic-related offenses, with Matt being hit with two counts including possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, a misdemeanor. The rapper has since been released from custody.

Matt Ox Reacts to California Arrest

Matt Ox reacted to the arrest on social media the day he was released. He posted a photo of his mugshot on Instagram along with the caption, “F**K THE SYSTEM! FREE THE KIDS! NEW MUSIC SOON! LOCKED ME UP FOR NUN IM BACK THO!”

The 20-year-old Philly rapper first got hot with his 2017 song “Overwhelming” at just 12 years old. He landed a record deal with Motown Records and dropped his debut album OX, with collabs with Valee, Chief Keef and the late XXXTentacion, in 2018. His most recent album, Teenrage, came out in 2023. In March, he released the single “Dayum” featuring Slimesito.
