Ilegal Mezcal presents The Best Paste Party Ever

Paste has been throwing parties in Austin during SXSW almost as long as we’ve been in existence. It’s always been a way for our readers to catch bands in an intimate setting long before the rest of the world catches on. Over the years, we’ve hosted Nathaniel Rateliff, Cold War Kids, Mac DeMarco, Geese, The Lumineers, S.G. Goodman, Joseph, Durand Jones, The Civil Wars, Josh Ritter, Of Monsters and Men and The 1975 when few people knew their names. And we’ve been honored to have legends like The Zombies, Built to Spill, Modern English, Cedric Burnside, Trampled By Turtles, Talib Kweli, Dope Lemon and Billy Bragg come play in front of a much smaller (but very appreciative) crowd than usual. We’ve also gotten to surprise our guests in recent years with special appearances from Renée Zellweger, Hannibal Burress and Matthew McConaughey.

This year promises to be our best party ever. We’re once again partnering with our friends at Ilegal Mezcal for a four-day extravaganza that will incorporate celebrity interviews from The A.V. Club with two stages of music performances—plus tattoo artists, chain stitching and delicious mezcal cocktails. We’ll be at High Noon in East Austin from 1 to 7pm on Saturday, March 14 through Tuesday, March 17. This year, we’ll also be giving away a special vinyl album packed with some of our favorite performances from prior years courtesy of our partners at Conectiv.

Concert and interview lineups plus more details about the vinyl will be coming next month, but you can go ahead and reserve your spot at our free show via FreshTix.

And you’ll be able to say, “I saw them when…” about your new favorite bands.
