DUSH (Polvere) is the result of a deep artistic connection between Sicilian producer Dinkis pseudonym of Gabriele Mineo and Argentine artist Cervan, released by Wout Records. It’s more than just a track—it’s a journey, one that moves beyond borders, both real and emotional. It drifts through memories, unspoken desires, and suspended moments, capturing that feeling of being caught between what was and what could be.
The inspiration comes from Dinkis’ most intimate thoughts, written in Italian on the cover of the single like fragments of a life lived between remembering and forgetting: “I remember and I forget, all at once, all at the same time.”
The sound carries a constant motion, shifting between past and present, between empty spaces and silent expectations. “The body bends to the jolts of time, the mind drifts through vacant rooms, through voices that no longer speak and hands I haven’t held in too long.” It’s a track built on contrasts—melancholy and transformation, warmth and cold, soft echoes and pounding beats.
At its core, there’s a quiet urgency, a search for something just out of reach. “I loved the poison with the same thirst with which I now seek water. I let the warm wind lull my soul to sleep, but now I crave the frost, the sharp breath, the shiver that awakens.” The music rises, shifting through layers of emotion, where the past still lingers but no longer defines.
Then there’s Cervan’s voice, slipping in with a verse in Spanish that adds to the dreamlike, introspective feel: “Llaves nuevas, mi desorden, (ella) intransitiva, (ella) ostensible.” The words are cryptic, yet they fit perfectly within the track’s hypnotic flow, another layer of feeling woven into the sound.
DUSH (Polvere) floats between the warmth of memory and the chill of change, between what’s seen and what remains hidden. “The stars watch me, the moon calls me, the eyes of strangers brush past me, yet I keep searching in the shadows, in the places where emptiness weighs more than presence.” Every element of the track is deliberate, carefully placed by Dinkis and Cervan to pull the listener into an immersive, almost cinematic experience.
As the song fades, it leaves behind a sense of suspension—like holding your breath just a second too long. “An unmade bed, sheets on the floor, time that no longer makes a sound. Only the dull thud of silence. Only the dust, waiting.” And in that waiting, in the quiet, the music keeps living—whispering into the air, ready to be heard again.
Q: Your new release “DUSH (Polvere)” marks a noticeable shift from your previous sound. What inspired this new direction?
The shift in my sound comes from the influence of artists like Daft Punk, Giorgio Moroder, M83 and The Weeknd. I’ve always been fascinated by the world of film scoring, and my dream is to one day compose soundtracks for movies—who knows, maybe even earn a nomination for Best Original Score at the most prestigious film festivals. There’s still a long journey ahead, but as always, I keep dreaming and believing in it.
Q: What specific influences or experiences shaped the unique sound of the record?
The artistic influences stem from the artists mentioned earlier, while personal experience has been the core of this project. For me, music is a way to express my thoughts and emotions, just like writing—including the poetry featured in the single’s artwork. This track is born from an intense emotion tied to an experience that, while I don’t regret, I would never want to relive. It tells the story of transformation, newfound awareness, and self-love. The music video, though somewhat cryptic, visually translates this journey.
Q: How was the production process for this track different from your previous works?
For this single, I collaborated with my Argentine friend, Cervan. Pedro contributed to the composition and wrote both the lyrics and the vocal melody. This project had been on hold for almost two years, but in the past few months, I decided to bring him in because he’s an exceptional musician, and we had already worked together in the past. Even though we had very little time, the final result turned out to be quite satisfying.
Compared to my previous works, this track leans more toward electronic pop influences, whereas my past productions were more piano-focused and had a more minimalist structure. I’m still in the process of discovering my true sound, and this track represents another step in that journey. With more time, we could have refined it even further, making it both more intricate and more essential at the same time, but I’m still happy with what we achieved.
Q: What message or emotion do you hope listeners take away from this?
The message I strive to convey in every piece of my work is love. It’s something I constantly seek, even when surrounded by it—an unexplainable void that lingers within me, manifesting as my inner cry. At the same time, through my music, I reveal my deepest secrets. Some may sense them, few truly understand them, and only those who are my accomplices can recognize them. That’s why I love to encrypt my work, leaving room for interpretation and deeper connections.
Q: Can listeners expect more explorations like this from you in future releases?
Absolutely! I hope to come back with a project crafted exactly as I’ve always envisioned—bringing in musicians with real instruments and creating a complex, well-produced album that can reach the artists who inspire me today. However, I believe it will take time. For now, I’ve decided to take a break from producing, as this single was originally meant to be my last. But knowing myself, I’m sure I’ll end up proving myself wrong.
