Electronic Duo ‘ear’ Featured in New iPhone Duo Commercial

The electronic music landscape has shifted once again as the emerging duo ear finds their track “Threads” at the center of a high-profile marketing campaign. The song, taken from their second LP Rumspringa, serves as the sonic backdrop for the debut of the new iPhone Duo, a folding device that marks a significant design evolution for Apple.

The commercial highlights the integration of advanced AI features, specifically showcasing an updated Siri function that assists users in retrieving forgotten information. In the spot, the voiceover asks, “Who is that artist Adam mentioned?” The device then intelligently combs through past messages to locate a recommendation from July 2025, leading directly to the playback of “Threads” on Apple Music.

This placement represents a milestone for Jonah Paz and Yaelle Avtan, the masterminds behind ear. The duo, who formed in 2024, rose to prominence with a DIY ethos; their debut single “Nerves” was famously recorded on an iPhone while the pair sat in a university library. That track’s rapid ascent on streaming platforms set the stage for a whirlwind career that has included tours across Europe and an opening slot for Yung Lean in Canada.

Following their debut album, The Most Dear and the Near Future, the duo continued to refine their unique sound—a blend of soft indie pop and electronic psychedelia—culminating in the release of Rumspringa under the A24 label. Their trajectory from library-based recording sessions to a global Apple commercial underscores the changing nature of music discovery in the digital age.

The iPhone Duo itself, the first major product launch under CEO John Ternus, features a 7.6-inch inner display and a specialized nano-texture finish. With a starting price of $1,999, the device is set to hit the market on October 16. While the future of ear’s recording process remains to be seen, their current success proves that the path from a bedroom studio to a global stage is more accessible than ever.
