On August 14, Morrissey was scheduled to begin a four-show residency at the Encore Theater within the Wynn Las Vegas. However, with only one week remaining before the opening night, the singer has once again canceled his plans, citing “unforeseen logistical challenges.” This latest development reinforces a long-standing pattern of instability surrounding his live performances.
Data compiled by the Morrissey-Solo fansite previously highlighted that the artist completes only about 70% of his announced concerts. Since 2012, he has canceled or postponed over 221 appearances. This Vegas cancellation follows closely on the heels of his missed performance in Warsaw on July 9, further cementing his reputation for unreliability in the touring industry.
The frequency of these cancellations has become so predictable that it has sparked discussions about the viability of betting markets, such as Kalshi, allowing fans to wager on whether he will actually take the stage. Morrissey, however, has pushed back against the criticism. In a third-person statement addressing the backlash, he asserted, “Morrissey doesn’t cancel Vegas […] The shows cannot happen for logistical reasons outside of Morrissey’s control.”
Despite the cancellation of the Sin City residency, his broader touring schedule remains intact for the time being. He is currently slated to appear at Riot Fest in Chicago on September 19, followed by a tour supporting his latest record, Make-Up Is a Lie, with dates scheduled across France, the UK, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
