With five singles already under his belt this year, and collaborations with major U.S artists like Flo Milli, Maxo Kream, and The Game, TOBi continues to build on a highly impressive 2021 run.
After winning Rap Recording of the Year at the 2021 JUNO Awards at the beginning of June, TOBi is back with his latest single, “Off The Drugs,” with assistance from Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins. The Cinematic Music Group artist has several critically acclaimed projects under his belt including the 2014 thematic mixtape, The Water[s], featuring Pro Era member Joey Badass as well as The Mind, Noname, and Jean Deaux.
“Mick came thru and bodied the verse as he should, and we’ve got a video on the way too,” said TOBi.
“I just wanna live life to the fullest and enjoy this while it lasts. Life to me is a good trip if you let it be.”
The track features a luscious guitar recording accompanied with jazz influenced horns by production from CVRE, Harper Gordon, and WahWah James. It’s the perfect space for TOBi and Jenkins to smoothly bounce off of each other’s varying experiences with drug use.
“Overdid it sometimes too, descriptive with my education
Edibles gon’ hit in ’bout a hour, that’s late registration, class has been in session
We ain’t present my whole section has been classy.”
“Off The Drugs” was released on July 14th, 2021 and marks TOBi’s sixth track of the year. It follows the previous releases, “Come As You Are” featuring Baby Rose, as well as his JUNO-winning album, ELEMENTS Vol. 1 from October 21, 2020.
