Jury selection for the highly anticipated Diddy sex crimes trial is complete following a delay last Friday.
Diddy Trial Jury Sworn In
On Monday (May 12), Diddy appeared in court as the final 43 potential jurors were whittled down to 12 with six alternates. The jury is made up of eight men and four women, and includes “a massage therapist, an investment analyst, a deli clerk at Gristedes, a dietary aide at a nursing home and a retiree who used to work for JPMorgan,” The New York Times reports. Two women and four men were chosen as alternate jurors. The jury is made up of residents of Manhattan, the Bronx and Westchester County, and ranges in age from people in their 30s to 70s.
Over 100 people were initially summoned for jury duty on May 5, with the number being knocked down throughout the week. Some potential jurors were excluded for being sexual assault survivors or closely related to sexual assault survivors. Others were dismissed for being related to law enforcement members or having their own past legal issues. Some people had language barriers that prevented them from being in the trial.

What’s at Stake for Diddy?
Opening arguments in the case begin today. Diddy is facing five federal counts, including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. Authorities are accusing Puff of using his power, money and influence to force people to participate in drug-fueled sex orgies known as “freak offs” or “Wild King Nights” for years. Diddy’s defense team claims he lives a swinger lifestyle and is being falsely accused. Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, is expected to testify for the prosecution during the trial.
If found guilty, Diddy faces 15 years to life in prison.
