Plastic Toys is a techno record label specialising in peak time techno with explosive energy, and the label’s new release is a two-track EP by Patrik Widmer.
Patrik Widmer is back on Plastic Toys with his second release for the label, and this release is in his usual style which blends twisted euphoria with driving percussion and dark atmosphere.
Based in Zurich, Patrik Widmer is a Swiss artist who has been involved in electronic music since the ’90s. Inspired by the trippy acid of the TB-303 synthesisr and robust percussion of the 909 drum machine, he has a passion for the exhilarating energy of techno.
“Touch My Soul” is the original track on this release, and its pounding kick drum and pulsating bassline form a foundation for muffled vocal textures that add a trippy element to the groove. Building towards the hands in the air breakdown that has breakbeat percussion and euphoric synths, the track is plunged back into darkness when the percussion slams back in.
There is also a ‘Rave Mix’ of Touch My Soul that has been produced by Patrik Widmer, and it replaces the bassline with a vigorous acid synth while raising the tempo for even more impact on the dance floor.
