Alternative artist FORREST WOOD has released Clift St EP, a seven-song record that captures a year of personal upheaval through direct, guitar-led performances. Raised in Columbia and musically shaped in Huntsville, Wood approaches songwriting with spontaneity, inspired by The Beatles’ ability to make the recording process feel immediate. Each track on the EP was written and recorded in real time, preserving the emotion and energy of the moment rather than polishing it in hindsight.
The EP draws on Wood’s lifelong immersion in music. His father’s record collection and his grandfather’s 1960s–70s radio broadcasts introduced him to melody-driven and structured music, influences that remain central to his work. Tracks like “Sugar Plum Fairy,” “Backdoor Man,” and “Twilight Zone” confront themes of rejecting inherited expectations, navigating self-inflicted consequences, and embracing the uncertainty of choosing one’s own path. Lyrics such as “You said f all the tradition in life / You signed the contract with a knife” place listeners inside the moment of decision rather than reflecting on it after the fact.
Wood’s creative process begins with guitar and unfolds organically. Songs are captured as they are written, allowing the record to document life as it happened, unfiltered and immediate. Clift St EP is now available on all major streaming platforms, including SoundCloud, Apple Music, and Spotify, offering listeners a raw and authentic alternative experience.
