Celebrate The Breakfast Club’s 35th Anniversary With This 1985 Performance of “Don’t You (Forget About Me)”

John Hughes’ The Breakfast Club is one of the most beloved teen movies of all time. The Molly Ringwald-starring flick about a band of misfits who withstand a detention sentence together (and learn a lot about themselves along the way) premiered on Feb. 15, 1985 and has only grown its fanbase year after year as more young people discover the classic film.

In honor of the movie’s 35th anniversary, we’re sharing this 1985 recording of one of the most memorable songs from the soundtrack: Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” which the group performed during the summer of 1985 in Philadelphia. The song appeared on the Scottish rock band’s album from the same year, Once Upon A Time, but its key appearance in the final scene of The Breakfast Club was undoubtedly their biggest popularity boost ever.
