Interview: Mätäsism

Mätäsism is an underground artist and a name behind a techno banger ‘Rave & Dance’ you need to hear. Recently he announced the return to his label with three old school tracks ready for the dance floor. Hear something more about this producer and his music in his answers below.

Hello! Thanks for your time! How would you introduce yourself to our audience?

Hello everyone, sorry if I don’t say my real name but I like to remain anonymous, I’m a Matasism DJ and Producer who currently lives in the United States.

How does your creative process start?

The creative process begins with materials, preparation, and inspiration.

The reason for this interview is your upcoming EP Rave With Us. What can you tell us about the inspiration and its story first?

The inspiration comes from everything that surrounds me, I am a boy who loves old school music not only techno but also other musical genres, so I always tend to mark my tracks with a sound that is a bit old but at the same time modern.

We met with my friend Mattia and we decided to create a track together that recalls the times of the Rave music.

Your track ‘Rave & Dance’ we heard in Ellen Allien’s set is considered as a techno anthem due to its old school vibe. What would you as an artist tell us about this track?

As an artist, I identify this track, a simple but at the same time effective track for the dance floor and aggressive, I’m not a producer who always releases the same type of sound but I’m always looking for something new, I don’t like to bore myself and my fans who follow me, so they can listen to different music on each EP that I release.

How would you describe the current situation on the global electronic scene?

The situation of electronic music is changing for the worse every day.

I called a track ”Marketing Devil” lol.

How would you describe your sound?

Aggressive and always ready for the dance floor.

What is underground for you?

For me, underground means not being commercial.

Tell us something more about your self-titled label?

The name of my label has nothing, in particular, I simply called my label as my artist name.

Are you planning some new music? Can we expect your new releases soon?

I am full of music to release, I am always working.

Do you believe that an artist has to be both producer and a DJ?

In the past no.

But in the modern era, yes, but I think it is more personal.

I personally always try to be complete in everything because I want to always learn, who is not and is because he doesn’t want to.

Rave With Us EP comes with an acid techno banger in collaboration with the talented artist Mattia Trani. So this question will be for your colleague Mattia – How did you two crossed paths and what led to your collaboration?

Our first meet was many tears ago in Riccione, i played in the legendary club Cocorico’ with Time Traveler and Matasism came with him as they are close friend, after that night we develop our music connection and now we are friends: so we talk about music but even other stuff as we are both supporters of football club AS Roma lol.

About music we decided some months ago to start a collaboration track, so Matasism first sent me a sample and stems from his idea and I completed the drums and moog part.
